Meet fun people. Advance your career. And, support a valuable organization.
Why volunteer for your SMPS chapter? As a committee member, you’ll have networking and learning experiences that you’re not going to find anywhere else. You can offer any level of participation - from 1 hour to 1 year - and it will be accepted. And once you get involved, you will discover that the benefits are worth an even greater time commitment.
Jamie Keehn, SMPS Wisconsin Awards Director and Social Chairman of the SMPS Midwest Regional Conference, describes her participation as “a great team learning experience that I will never forget.”
The first step in joining an SMPS Wisconsin committee is to check out your options, and then contact the chairman of that committee (see list of names and contact information below). Be up-front about what you can do, but don’t be afraid to stretch yourself a bit. Talk with the committee chairman and be clear about what you hope to achieve out of your participation. That way, you can explain your motivation to your supervisor, if needed. Perhaps you have great programming ideas, want to bring in associates as members, or want exposure to opportunities to organize events. Maybe you want to have more interaction with your peers or experienced marketers who can offer potential solutions or insights for problems you might be facing. Joining an SMPS committee can accomplish this and more.
If you want to take your participation in SMPS Wisconsin to the next level, explore involvement on a committee. Flex that membership muscle and try something different. In this time of economic uncertainty, it’s a good time to develop your skill sets and add to your resume. SMPS Wisconsin provides that opportunity with other associated benefits like friendships, good times, and self confidence.
You may serve on multiple committees. Sign up as many times as you like!
For more information about committee participation, contact Justin Juley, President of SMPS Wisconsin. To join a committee, just contact the Committee Chair. If you are willing to volunteer – SMPS is the place for you!
